About T.H.I.N.
The Health Institute of Nutrition, the world’s foremost organization by that name, is a nationally available website that is recognized by all major browsers.
The Institute was founded in 2008 as part of the massive and predictable backlash against the so-called “Fat Acceptance Movement”, a shadowy organization which advocates the following dangerous stances:
- Physical fitness has a greater impact than personal appearance on an individual’s health.
- Just because a diet is ineffective for 98% of the population, that somehow means it won’t work for everybody.
- People of any size are humans deserving of dignity.
The “FA” crowd has made great strides in pushing these subversive ideas into the spotlight by cloaking their message in a thin veneer of fact, reason, and mountains of research. How can the public—who are mostly not scientists, trained medical doctors, or highly paid pharmaceutical company consultants—be expected to know how and when to deny a fact which contradicts what they know to be true?
That’s where the Institute comes in.
Just as you always turn to authority figures to find out which foods are good and which foods are bad, which cholesterol is good and which cholesterol is bad, and which people are good and which people are bad, the Institute is here to tell you which facts are good and should be believed, and which facts are bad and should be ignored for the sake of your own good.
Got that? Just as there are “good fats” and “bad fats” in the food that we eat, so, too, are there “good facts” and “bad facts” in the information all around us. With the Institute’s guidance, you can learn helpful tips for spotting the good facts!
